The South Carolina Band Directors Association presents the Outstanding Performance Awards (OPA) to bands which perform well in all areas.  Points are awarded for marching contest results, concert festival, region/all-state band participation, and solo and ensemble. 

Midland Valley is one of only nine AAA bands to earn the OPA in 2003-2004, and one of forty-two bands statewide, regardless of school size,  to get the award.  Midland Valley is the only high school band in Aiken County to receive this award.  This is Midland Valley's seventh OPA since 1997.
