| David Hastings -
Director of Bands David Hastings is in his eighth year as Director of
Bands at Midland Valley High School. He holds the Bachelor of Music with Emphasis in
Education - Cum Laude from The University of South Carolina. Prior to his arrival at Midland
Valley, he served as Assistant Director of Bands in Barnwell, SC.
Bands
under his leadership have consistently placed well in marching and concert events. Honors have included the 2002 National
Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC, the
2003 South Carolina AAA Lower State Championship, and an invite to the 2004 Philadelphia
Thanksgiving Day Parade. David has served as
arranger, visual consultant, or clinician for many fine bands throughout the state of South
Carolina, all of whom maintain championship caliber marching and concert band programs.
David
currently serves the South Carolina Bands Directors Association as a 3A Representative on
the Marching Committee. He is also a member of The Savannah River Winds, a
professional Wind Ensemble comprised mostly of band directors throughout the Central
Savannah River Area.
As an avid
USC Gamecock fan, David enjoys supporting USC's Football and Basketball teams. He also
enjoys maintaining a busy schedule of trumpet performance, composing and arranging music,
designing marching band drill, cooking, and playing golf.
His
affiliations include: Music Educators National Conference, South Carolina Music Educators
Association, The South Carolina Band Directors Association, Who's Who Among American
Teachers, Who's Who in America, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
He resides
in North Augusta, South Carolina.

Kimberly Woods - Director of Bands
Leavelle-McCampbell Middle School
Kimberly Woods is in her fourth year as the band director at
Leavelle-McCampbell Middle School. She is a 1999 graduate of Pelion High School,
where she played in the pit and was drum major of the Pelion Marching Pride. Ms.
Woods attended Newberry College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 20004 with a
double major in Music Education and Music Theory and minored in Church Music and
Mathematics.
During college, Ms. Woods was very active in many
organizations. In the Scarlet Spirit Marching Band she played in the pit, marched
bass drum, and was the drum major. She was a member of the Newberry College Jazz
Band, College Singers, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Cardinal Key, and Concert Band.
She also served as president of both the Music Educators National Conference Chapter and
the music fraternity, Delta Omicron.
Ms. Woods has traveled across the Southeast performing with the jazz
band in many churches and high schools, and last summer was one of four collegiate solo
performers at the Delta Omicron Tri-annual International Conference. She has worked
with several high school band including Lower Richland High, Chapin High, and Whitmire
Community School. In her spare time, Ms. Woods worked with the Whitmire First
Baptist Church as the Minister of Music, assisted with the Mrs. South Carolina America
Pageant, and enjoyed assembling puzzles.

Johnathan "Fugi" Richards - Battery Instructor
Johnathan is currently the percussion coordinator/arranger at
Midland Valley High School, a position he has held since 2001. Previous to his current
position he was the assistant percussion instructor at Irmo High School and White Knoll
High School and also on percussion staff with Drum Corps Associates World Finalist
Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. He has arranged and been a consultant to numerous high
school programs across the Southeast. His experience includes performing with the 1999 and
2000 Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and also performing with the 2001 Cadets Drum
and Bugle Corps. Those ensembles were percussion champions in their respective divisons in
2000 and 2001. He was also a member of the University of South Carolina WADSQUAD drumline.
Johnathan currently lives in Jackson, SC with his wife and daughter and works as a
documentation coordinator for a software company in Augusta, GA
Kelli Richards - Front Ensemble Instructor

Drew Dickey - Brass/Percussion/Visual Tech
Drew Dickey is in his fourth year assisting with the Midland Valley
High School Band and is a senior music education major at the University of South Carolina
in Columbia. Drew has performed with both the Carolina Crown and Carolina Gold Drum and
Bugle Corps and has served as a clinician and consultant with numerous bands and ensembles
throughout the state. At USC, Drew performed with numerous ensembles, such as the concert
bands and wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, the basketball and volleyball pep bands, the
Mighty Sound of the Southeast marching band, and has performed in a number of
solo performance venues. He is also currently the arranger and conductor for the Zeta Chi
brass ensemble in Columbia, South Carolina and is a proud alumnus and supporter of Midland
Valley High School.
Over the past few years, Drew has had the honor of being recognized as a South Carolina
Teaching Fellow and has chaired the USC teaching fellows publicity committee for two years
. He was also the master of ceremonies for the South Carolina Teacher of the Year Banquet
in 2004.
During his free time, Drew is actively involved with the Albert Pike Lodge 174 in Langley,
South Carolina, and he always supports the South Carolina Gamecock athletic teams whenever
he has the chance. He also enjoys writing and arranging music, scuba diving, playing
sports, traveling, and teaching.
His professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference, Kappa Kappa
Psi, South Carolina Teaching Fellows, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in
Clearwater, South Carolina.
